Malcolm's obituary
Malcolm Watson Shearer Jr passed away on November 13, 2021 at age 80 years. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Rhoads Shearer of 57 years. He was father to four children - Margaret Smith (Louis Smith), Tammy Stone (Jimmy Stone), Malcolm L Shearer (Marlene Gieda Shearer) and Sherri Prouty (Matthew Prouty). He had 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Malcolm was born and raised in the Limerick area. He was the son of Malcolm W Shearer Sr and Ida May Burns Shearer. He has four sisters - Ida May, Martha Ellen, Irma Jean and Betty Jane.
Malcolm was honorably discharged from the army in 1964 where he served in France. He married Shirley aka Cookie that same year.
His goal upon graduating high school was to become a truck driver which he achieved. He owned his own rig and then drove locally to be closer to his family. Eventually his passion for driving led him to a new career driving a school bus. He drove for Spring Ford School District and then Methacton School District. He loved driving the school bus and advanced to become a driving instructor.
In addition to driving, Malcolm and Cookie purchased the Linfield mansion in 1983. Together they brought the mansion back to its former glory. Malcolm and his darlin' operated Shearer Elegance Bed and Breakfast as a successful business for almost 30 years.
Over the years Malcolm had several interests which included woodworking where he built cabintes and other furniture for the house. He was an avid watch collector and watcher of the stock market.
Malcolm's pride and joy was his family and they were always his main focus in his life.
A service will be held for Malcolm on November 23rd at 10AM at the Linfield United Church of Christ, 25 Reformed Road, Linfield, PA. In leiu of flowers, donations can be made to the Linfield UCC Church.
