Mack's obituary

Malcolm (Mack) Allan MacDonald, 74, of Regina, Saskatchewan, passed away on September 19, 2024, following a courageous battle with liver cancer.

Born on April 27, 1950, in Sydney, Nova Scotia, he always remained a “Caper” at heart, reveling in visiting and reconnecting with family and friends numerous times over the course of his lifetime. At the age of 19, Mack and his friends from Cape Breton Island headed west to British Columbia but ended up in Regina. The rest, as they say, is history.

Mack’s sense of humor, adventurous spirit, and jovial nature were evident to all he encountered in his lifetime. He was a walking encyclopedia of Dad jokes, Cliff Clavin facts, and amusing tales that may or may not have been improved upon with every telling. Over the years, his arsenal of anecdotes smoothed over awkward silences, brought people together, and helped many find common ground in any crowd.

Mack had a lifelong love for all things Halloween and macàbre. A fan of Vincent Price, he mastered the art of creating terrifying, ghoulish looks with prosthetics and face paint long before YouTube tutorials existed. He delighted in scaring and amusing his children, and later his grandson. Also cherished were his annual fishing trips, especially because of the people involved and all the stories that have been shared and will also remain untold. In his later years, Mack took to the open road, embarking on several motorcycle adventures and occasional trips to Sturgis to talk politics and tattoos. His passion for sports, whether watching, playing, or coaching, remained strong throughout his life. A devoted Roughrider Season Ticket Holder for over 40 years he was also a dedicated Toronto Blue Jays fan.

Throughout his lengthy career in new home sales and construction and as a Realtor, Mack engaged in several public speaking events and conducted countless seminars for his consulting business and the real estate community. Mack was incredibly proud of being a RE/MAX Agent until his passing.

Mack is preceded in death by his parents, Currie and Elsie; Sister Marjorie; son Christopher; and best friends Larry and Sandy.

Mack is survived by his partner Brenda; his daughter Cindy and grandson Declan; his siblings Joan, Elizabeth (David), Lloyd (Jennifer), Craig (Raksa), Millard, and Dan (Connie); his nieces and nephews, Kirk, Graeme, Christopher, Savina, Craig, Kellie, Melissa, Angus, Marjorie and Kwan; and treasured extended family and friends.

Mack was a kind-hearted man whose warmth and generosity left an enduring impact on many. While his family and friends feel the weight of his loss, his memory and spirit will live on in our hearts forever.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Kimberly Hagel and all the staff at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre and Wascana Rehab.
