Personal note from Mahesh’s Family

It is with extreme sadness and great regret that the family of Mahesh Pandey are sharing the news of his untimely and devastating death.

He departed this world early Saturday morning on January 14, 2023 at the age of 39. He is now surfing his endless waves, playing his music, dancing and laughing forever in the clouds and permanently in our hearts.

Mahesh was well known for his claim to fame as the “first ever Indian Beach Boy”when he worked for Star Beach Boys in Waikiki, HI. He was the voice you heard first that drew you in and the first smile you received as you walked onto the sand looking for your vacation adventure in the water! He loved to talk a mile a minute and his stories were out of this world. Mahesh LOVED history, especially history from or about India. If you were to have asked him; we are all descendants from his home country, his pride and joy, India. If there was something in addition to his daughter, surfing, history or music that he loved it would be his coffee and making you a cup of his strong espresso and sipping and telling you his stories of his adventures. Another passion of Mahesh’s was connecting with friends and family through cooking. He loved cooking amazing Indian cuisines and having dinner parties in his family’s home. These memories were deeply cherished by Mahesh and he often talked about them with his family.

Travel and exploring were a huge part of Mahesh. He lived and traveled through Europe, Asia, India and South America in his late teens and throughout his twenties. He would always tell his wife and daughter; where ever they wanted to go he had a friend they could meet and a place to stay.

We miss him dearly as we are all still grasping this devastating reality of continuing to live life with out such a bold and larger than life figure in it. His daughter Indira loved and thought the world of her Papa. She spent a lot of one on one time with him and she loves her memories and we are so grateful that there are many. Her world has been forever changed with her tragic loss, but he is alive in her as her family can see.

We do appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we as a family go through and live with this grief, especially our Indira.

Mahesh is survived by his Mom, Raj and brother Umesh whom live in India and his sister Pushpa and his brother in law Vikram and nephew and niece, Amit and Sophia whom live in Canada. As well as his wife Lauren, and his child; Indira 7 years of age and extended family; In laws Vonda and Michael and Adrienne and Richard and Stephanie and Julian whom live in the United States and Australia. He proudly was Indian but he also fought really hard for his ability to finally become a US citizen in July 2022.

We know this is incredibly shocking and hard news to receive for those who know Mahesh and his louder than life personality. The family is asking you to please leave any fond memories or funny stories you have of your own time with Mahesh. We will treasure them and have them to share with Indira as she grows up and will want to know all about her papa. Rarely a place he would go where he was not recognized or remembered. Peace be in perfect peace for now and always our Mahesh.
