Magdalena's obituary
Magdalena "Mali" Monge, lovingly known as Molly but preferred Mali, passed away on March 23, 2023. Born on May 21, 1953, in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico, Magdalena lived a fulfilling and inspiring life.
Magdalena is survived by Armando Martinez, her daughters, Elva Martinez-Solchaga and Canela Martinez-Pazej, who are always proud to call her mother and her six grandchildren - Sebastian Solchaga, Rosalind Solchaga, Mila Pazej, Natalie Pazej, Summer Pazej, and Oliver Pazej.
She graduated from Rubidoux High School on Opal Street, Riverside, CA, USA in 1971 and went on to have a successful career as a teacher for 40 years.
Among Magdalena's many hobbies were art, drawing, spending time with her grandchildren, watching TV, and going to the movie theater. She also enjoyed playing games on her phone, reading, discussing conspiracy theories, and indulging in sci-fi.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Magdalena would describe her personality as patient, kind, understanding, loving, non-judgmental, generous, selfless, funny, nerdy, reliable, stable, quiet, and observant. Her gentle nature and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of life for Magdalena will be held on May 4, 2023, at 11:00 AM at The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture in Riverside, CA. Following the celebration, a reception will take place at 12:45 PM at the Riverside Art Museum Rooftop, where family and friends can gather to honor Magdalena's memory and share in the love and light she brought to those who knew her.
