Mae's obituary

Grandma Mae passed away on June 27, 2022 peacefully surrounded by all those that loved her. Born on January 01, 1930, Grandma Mae spent so many  wonderful years spreading joy to any and all around her. A comfort to many and a joy to all, most of her time was spent taking care of her family, her friends, and her community.

When she was just 15 years old, Grandma Mae moved to  Foster, AL and met Charlie Steele-- the love of her life. After spending years going back and forth on where they'd settle down, Mae Neal and Charlie finally decided on the lovely town of Autaugaville, AL where they'd go on to raise 2 beautiful children: The late Freddie Jackson Sr. and the late Ola Bell Jackson.  Later in life, Grandma Mae enjoyed cooking,  fishing, decorating, shopping, and tell us tones of stories from her childhood and spent much of her time planting acres and acres of crops on her land from sun up to sun down. A loving and wonderful woman until the very end, she will be greatly missed.

Grandma Mae wasn't much of a church goer. She always said, "I can have church right hear in my heart at home me and God." She was preceded in death by her late husband Charlie Steele, her 2 children Freddie Jackson Sr. and Ola Bell Jackson,  2 grandsons Sherman D Jackson and Freddie Jackson II, and 1 great grandson DeAndre Jackson. She leaves to cherish 1 granddaughter Ola Bell Jackson and 4 great grandchildren, Emmanuel, Joshunta, Jonquitta Frazier and Ella Pettway and 1 brother, Wiley Jackson, and a host of of other family members and friends.  She was blessed with 92 years. We will dearly miss her, but the time she was given to us was priceless and her memories will forever live in our hearts.
