Maddie Mads 💫 my fellow deep feeling, creative, music loving soul sista. She made all my teenage concert dreams come true. We connected on our love for music - it was our way of tuning out all of the madness and noise that was too much for our sensitive spirits to handle even if we didn’t know it at the time. 🎶🦋

Mads was always the most generous, selfless, kindhearted person. Always up for a good time, a laugh, a dance party. Sharing her life and loved ones around her with open arms to the rest of the world. Her light on this planet will surely be missed but I know we will be reunited again soon. Love you lots 💌🕊️ Tegan

I met Mads in 2021 in Seattle, when Mads was working for my friend Jonah's Jewish beeswax candle business. We were two of the only people from Massachusetts living in Seattle we knew and hit it off right away- "It's so pretty here but where's the Dunkins?" I got to know Mads in many different contexts- from helping with a friend's memorial for their mother to  doing disability justice organizing to Mads being the most incredible kareoke jockey at their house's Chanukah party anyone had ever seen. Mads was and is incredibly loved in Seattle and Washington, and no one who met them left unchanged by them. I'm so glad I got to know them. Sending love and deep condolences to their family, blood and chosen, and everyone mourning them.

Love the picture.  Thinking of Jake and Molly … and Maddie alongside.

Sending love to Molly and Jake.  We first met Mads when  she was a newborn and have shared memories of family get togethers, conversations about family, and stories about her dad.  Love from Aunt Kate and Uncle John
Having this site and reading these posts are quite helpful but the hole in my heart seems to be growing bigger, not smaller. I was one of mads hevruta (study partners). We met as participants at a Jewish Studio Project intensive in 2019 and have been studying together ever since. I'll try to post more memories about Mads but will also post with a pic when we visited Mads in Seattle for lunch. We were visiting friends in Portland and I said I can't be this close to my hevruta and not get together! And so we took a 3 hr drive each way for a glorious 2 hours together. God I miss her and have so many unanswered questions.

This is a piece of art I've been working on, based on a picture of Mads & Zimyl together. The quote is from Mads' poem "Prelude to Kaddish."

Dear Jake,

I was so sorry to hear about Maddie's passing.  There are no words.  I have thought about you and Molly since hearing this sad news, and am sending you both love and prayers.  This is a beautiful memorial site, and it's obvious that she was loved and appreciated by many.

I'm thankful for your presence and support of collective organizing in the Undoing Racism Network.  You are loved.  Prayers and thoughts are up for all the people who care about you.   I've spent time reading about the many dimensions of your life.  You lived big, and with such humility.  In gratitude to have experienced a part of one of the dimensions, I'll remember your pure joy in the presence of children.

Love Never Ends...

I keep sending you messages, our being in community will never end. miss u.
Mads was a beautiful soul who touched the lives of many at Boston University School of Theology. She is missed. May her memory be a blessing.
Dear Mads- I am so sad that you are no longer with us on this earth. While you carried a constant deep grief for all of the unnecessary injustice in the world, you also brought wonderful creative beauty, good humor, intelligent critique, and a pureness of love I have rarely encountered.  You truly enriched my life, which thankfully is a gift that I will have forever.  I love you my sweet, beautiful friend.  Colleen
