Mackenzie loved all living things.  She literally wouldn’t hurt a fly. On a camping trip she found a dragon fly that had been stepped  on.  She gently picked it up and moved it off the path and sat with it sobbing.  No one could convince her to leave it.  She stayed with it until it passed because she didn’t want it to be alone. 

      On another camping trip our tent and camp site had been completely covered by caterpillars during our final night.  Packing up the next morning took hours longer because she insisted that we remove and relocate all the caterpillars so that none were hurt or killed.

    This is how I will remember her.  Lover of all things and protector of the weak.
