Jane's obituary
On March 4, 1929, Martha Jane was born in Hillsboro, IL, and later moved with her family to Mattoon, IL. She attended Eastern Illinois University (EIU), where she met her husband Donald Duensing. After college, they settled in Algonquin and raised five children, Thirza, Thomas (Susan), Karen Balzer, David, and Jean (Robert) Durbin.
Jane earned her degree in teaching from EIU and was a founding member of the EIU Cheerleaders. For several years, she was president of the Eastern Illinois University Alumni Association. Jane and Don continued to be active alumni of EIU for many years after they graduated. Jane was a 4th-grade teacher at Sunnyhill Elementary School in Carpentersville IL for 23 years, touching hundreds of students' lives until she retired.
At the time of her death, she was survived by her mother, Mrs. Catherine Hesler; husband, Donald C. Duensing; five children, Thirza, Thomas (Susan), Karen Balzer, David, and Jean; one brother, Glen Hesler; and four grandchildren.
