Lynn's obituary
Lynn Marie Smith Bartholomew transitioned from this life to everlasting life on February 23, 2026, surrounded by loved ones after battling cancer at Oschner Medical Center in New Orleans, LA.
Lynn graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1975 and attended Southeastern Louisiana University where she studied English Literature. She was married to Norman DeMyers in the summer of 1978 and had two children, Pharaoh Lynn DeMyers and Sabrina Rae DeMyers.
She served her community with her knowledge and wittiness as a Dispatch Controller at New Orleans Tours, retiring in 2020. Lynn, being a lifetime learner with a heavy thirst for knowledge and truth, enjoyed reading in her spare time. Legend has it that she once read the entire catalog of books at the local library when she lived in Hazelhurst, MS for a short stint of time. Some of her other hobbies included solving puzzles, spending quality time with her children and grandchildren on FaceTime, drinking coffee, engaging in decadent conversations with friends and strangers, and walking her dog.
Lynn is survived by her son Pharaoh DeMyers (Shannon); daughter Sabrina DeMyers; brother Wayne McCormick, Sr. (Trina); Norman DeMyers; grandchildren, Jade Ford, Pharaoh “Isaiah” DeMyers, Jaleah Garrison, Genesis DeMyers, and Journee Hudson; niece DeShaun Webster (Jovan); and nephews Wayne McCormick, Jr. and Ryan McCormick. She was preceded in death by her parents Joan McCormick and Glitz Smith, and her dog, Buddy.
An intimate memorial service will be held at Union Bethel AME Church on March 7, 2026 for family and friends.
