Lyn's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lynette "Lyn" Rettig Feeney, who departed from this life on October 3, 2024. Born in 1952, Lyn lived a life filled with joy, generosity, energy, and a hint of sass. Her laughter and vibrant spirit will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Terry Feeney, whom she married in 1989.  Lyn is also survived by her daughter, Abby Perdue; son, Rob Bokop; and sister, Jenni Manfredini, and two grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Beverly Rettig, and sister, Annette Kretz.

In 2000, the Feeneys left their hometown of Defiance, OH, for lake life at Nyona Lake, IN. They moved to Wilmington, NC in 2022 to be near Josh, Abby, and grandkids. Lyn had a deep love for the beach. After relocating to the coast, Lyn would often be found at the beach collecting shells and wading in the ocean. This being her happy place, she always carried the spirit of the sea with her.

A loyal fan of the San Francisco 49ers, Lyn never missed a chance to show her support for her favorite football team. She enjoyed walking her dogs around the neighborhood and immersing herself in the worlds offered by Jodi Picoult and Nicholas Sparks’ books. Her love for music was vast, ranging from the soulful voice of Etta James to the modern reggae beats of Iration.

Lyn was excited by Wilmington food scene and could often be found savoring Mexican meals at El Cerro or enjoying cheeseburgers at PT’s. She had a particular fondness for lavender lemonade from The Kitchen Sink, apple pie moonshine, and mimosas. In her free time, Lyn took to recreational activities including baking, making blankets, and caring for her plants.

Lyn's favorite TV shows included Deadliest Catch, Duck Dynasty, and Yellowstone. She had an appreciation for quirky and colorful art and a love for the classic baseball movie, Field of Dreams.

Lyn was known for her colorful personality and unique sense of style. She had a knack for making every detail of life seem extraordinary, and her generous nature knew no bounds. Whether it was through her engaging conversations, sharing food, or gifting plants, Lyn's memory will always be one of joy and love.

Above everything, Lyn loved her family and especially her grandkids. Being “Gramma Lake” was her most special part of her life. She was an incredible and supportive Grams. Her devotion and affection towards her loved ones were unparalleled. From sending cards to simply being there in times of need, Lyn was the epitome of a loving family woman.

As we grieve the loss of Lyn, let's celebrate her life and remember the beautiful soul that she was.
