It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lynda Carol Gilley Todd, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Lynda departed this world on July 14, 2023, leaving cherished memories and a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know her.
Lynda was born to the late Weldon Gilley and Claretta Barnes on August 29, 1940, in Delaware Bend, Cooke County, Texas.
Education played an important role in Lynda's life. She proudly attended The University of Texas at Austin and graduated from New Mexico State University, earning her Bachelor of Science. Her thirst for knowledge and dedication to personal growth were lifelong pursuits that shaped her into the remarkable woman she became.
Lynda was a devoted daughter and sister. She shared a mutual love and respect for her brothers and sister, David Gilley and his wife, Lisa Gilley, Lanny Gilley and his wife, Cheryl Gilley, and Joy Chapman and her husband, Jerry Chapman.
Lynda’s daughter, Patricia Carol Moya, held a special place in her heart. Although Patricia's passing in December 2005 brought immeasurable grief, Lynda found solace in the love and presence of her granddaughter, Rebecca (Becky) Carol Nevling, and her husband, Gary Nevling. The arrival of her great-grandson, Jaxson Troy Nevling, filled Lynda's life with immense pride and happiness.
Lynda's professional career was marked by dedication and service. She served as a Flight Attendant at American Airlines for 14 years, where her warm smile and exceptional care made a lasting impression on countless passengers. Her commitment to providing a safe and enjoyable travel experience exemplified her exceptional work ethic and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Outside of her career, Lynda found fulfillment in her hobbies and volunteer work. She was an avid bridge player, spending many joyful hours at the Ft. Worth Women's Club, where she forged lasting friendships and created countless memories. Additionally, Lynda generously devoted her time as a citizen's patrol dispatcher for the Ft. Worth Police Department, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to serving her community.
Lynda Carol Gilley Todd leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication. Though our hearts ache with grief, we find solace in the memories we shared and the profound impact she made on our lives. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory forever inspire us to live with kindness, empathy, and gratitude.
