Lyle was Best Man at my Wedding.

I remember him driving me to the church.

I was pretty nervous and Lyle recognized it and was a calming influence to me.

I really appreciated that.

I just thought of you Lyle while talking to a mutual friend. And was told of your passing you should have called me and let me say goodbye. I know last time I spoke with Lyle … I never called him bitch although we had each other’s cell numbers. He spoke highly about his son in Vegas we gave each other life advice over several years and he will be sadly missed. I guess I always thought he would always be there when ever I needed his advice. Buying his house for 30 something then paying it off so quickly shows what a keen mind he had. And also his no BS attitude One of his favorite stories was dealing with the lobos motorcycle gang and arresting the leader.
Thanks for being my coworker and good friend. You will be missed by all who knew you.

We are so very sorry to hear of Lyles (Butchs) death. Butch and I played ball together for years and it was always a fun time. He was a dear friend and we will miss him. Karen and Lyle met at our wedding so we often would talk about that. Karen and family may God comfort you in your loss. You have our deepest sympathy. Sincerely Randy and Bonnie Schlesner.
Sorry for your loss. I met Lyle as my husband was a police officer for the City of Jefferson and Lyle was dispatching at the time . My husband enjoyed working with him and had much respect.

I am one of a generation of Jefferson County deputies that was mentored by Lyle. He was always there with a story at always the right moment. And you knew you were a member of the department when you earned your nickname, given by Sgt. "Butch" Borth.
One night serving papers, I got bitten by a dog in the right thigh. 3 punctures, but it didn't tear my pants. The doctor at Watertown ER said I should go home, but Butch told me, "Scotty, you can rest in the squad the same as if you were at home. It can't be that bad, didn't even rip your pants." I worked the rest of my shift and missed no time off. He was one of a kind!

Karen,
Ken and I are so sorry to hear of your loss. Seems only yesterday we stood up in each other’s wedding.

Five years ago this picture was taken at a joint birthday party we threw for Dad and Mom. Butch spent that night talking, laughing, and catching up with family and friends. The next day he said it was one of the highlights of his life. He talked about this picture often...it was taken at the very end of the party; we handed the camera to my cousin Dustin, and in a couple seconds had organized together and the photo was snapped, somehow turning out as the best family photo we've ever taken. Unplanned, impromptu, throwing the camera to the person who happened to be walking by...he thought it was a great photo with an even better story.
