On September 12th Lyla Mae Dobson died unexpectedly in Englewood, FL, in a car accident. She was 73 years old.

Lyla is survived by her husband, Gary Dobson of Englewood, FL. Her daughter, Krystal May and husband Jared of Englewood, FL. Her granddaughter, Alivia Hagensen, and her husband Tyler of Fargo, ND. And her grandson, Alex May of Englewood, FL. Also by her sister, Betty Hanson of Thief River Falls, MN, and brother, Kenny Parsley of Oklee, MN. She is preceded in death by her father and mother Frances and Harley Parsley of Thief River Falls, MN, and her brother Harold Parsley of Oklee, MN.

Lyla grew up near Oklee, MN, on a small farm with her sister and two brothers. She was baptized on April 15, 1967, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Her faith became not just something you do once in a while but her whole way of life. Because of this she moved to Maine in 1971 to spend her life full time sharing her hope for a better future with others. There she met Gary Dobson and they were married on December 30, 1973. In 1976 they moved back to Thief River Falls, MN. In 2021 they moved to Englewood, FL with Krystal, Jared, and their grandson Alex.

She enjoyed listening to music with Gary and as many friends as she could get to come along. She loved to go tubing the river with friends in Minnesota, shopping with friends or even just sitting around with friends. One of her new favorite things to do was taking friends on the boat to look at dolphins and find sharks teeth on the shore. As long as she was with family and friends she was happy. Making people laugh was her talent. Most of the time she didn’t even know what she did to make them laugh, which would make us all laugh even more. Most importantly she looked forward to being able to get back out in the ministry after the pandemic to be able to share with people her hope of the resurrection in a beautiful paradise earth. Her favorite scripture was Revelation 21:3,4. That hope brought her much comfort and I know she would like you to put comfort in that hope too.
