Background
Karl was a consummate scientist, passionate about the power of knowledge, the search for understanding the unknown, and the dire need for combating misinformation with facts. He acted as a mentor for many younger colleagues and was always available to connect with those interested in his field at the intersection of Law and Artificial Intelligence. He fervently believed that science should be accessible to everyone, and he was an ardent supporter of AISES' mission to increase Indigenous representation in STEM fields. He also wholeheartedly supported UCS' mission to create a healthy, safe, and just world through science, dedicating his life and career to finding ways Artificial Intelligence could be used to advance social justice.
