Lupe's obituary
Lupe Garcia Gallegos was born on Jan. 19, 1940, and passed away on Dec. 29, 2024.
As the sun began to set, with her family by her side, Lupe took her last breath. Her lifetime of giving to others was replaced by her spirit, which will live in each life she touched.
Throughout Lupe’s life, she has shown her love of God, family, and community. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Her door was always open, and her words never failed to comfort anyone who needed them. Her actions and words reflected her strong faith.
While attending Holbrook schools, she wrote the words that were added to the music arrangement created by her then-music teacher, Mr. Gibbons. This became known as the Holbrook Fight Song.
In both her careers as a telephone operator, retiring from the Show Low Verizon business office, and then as an interpreter for Navajo County, Lupe loved her customers and co-workers, especially her “Contel” roots.
Everyone knows her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. Each one had a unique bond that she nurtured throughout their lives. She was deeply loved by her brothers, sisters, and their families and was a “proud Garcia”!
She moved to Henderson, Nevada, in 2009, continuing to create more memories with her family and community until her death.
She is survived by her loving husband, Lawrence U. Gallegos, and their children: Frank Gallegos (Sue), Lisa Jolley (Steve), and Renza Gallegos (Furry friend Funny Face). Her grandchildren, Vivian Sample, Frankeelynn Gallegos, Lupe Baldonado, Richard, Regan, Ryan, Amelia Gallegos, Jenifer Jolley, and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her children Tina and Ricky Gallegos and her grandson Daniel Jolley.
Lupe & Ricky’s celebration of life is on Saturday, March 22, 2025, with a Rosary and Mass at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Holbrook, Arizona—lunch at the Family Center after Mass.
