Luke's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we share in our loss of Luke Walling. Luke was born on April 8, 1979 and departed this world July 9, 2023. He will always be remembered as a warm, nurturing, kind, and exceptional father and partner.
Luke leaves behind his Fiancé , Ericca Berry, and his sons, Lane and Andrew Walling. Step daughter Taitlyn Berry step sons Taryn and Tristyn Berry, his granddaughters Ellie and Mia Berry grandson Tavyn Berry, His father, Dan Walling, and Mother Janese Walling. He was preceded in death by his son Wyatt Walling and step son Talyn Lee.
Luke was a faithful attendee at the Glendive Evangel Church and served as a Foster Parent for Dawson Community. He was also an active member of many Farmers of America and its State Associations & Local Chapter. He loved farming and riding horses. He had many scars and stories from the years of Bull Riding He drove semi for the last few years after leaving the farm. His heart just wasn’t in it like it was in Farming. He he was a hard worker and would put in 60+ hours a week. But he never complained about it and always willing to work and help out.
A man of simple pleasures, Luke loved salads and sweets, and his drink of choice was Monster energy drinks you never saw him without one in the morning or in a car. The Bible was his favorite book, and the song 'Grow old with me' held a special place in his heart. He loved watching the TV show 'Yellowstone', and his preference for movies leaned towards action or cowboy films. A loyal fan of the KC Chiefs, he enjoyed playing Uno and watching football. He loved hiking, fishing, mowing the lawn on his riding mower, and was particularly fond of the end of their property on the river.
To him, there was no greater joy than running; he could run for miles at a stretch. His favorite vacation spots involved hiking anywhere in the mountains. He was passionate about his boys and particularly missed his youngest Wyatt who left this Earth in July 2021
Luke's life was marked by the lessons he shared with others—to love the Lord and always give 100% of yourself for Him. He was proud of his successful farming business, raising three amazing boys, and nurturing a foster baby. His legacy, to accept people as they were without judgment or belittlement, will continue to inspire us all.
In the words of his Fiancé , Ericca, "I was just six months away from marrying the man of my dreams and I feel shortened on that, but yet blessed for the 18 months I did have with him.” She added, "Honey, you will forever be my cowboy."
Rest in peace, Luke. Your memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved you.
Ericca would also like to say if you or your loved one is suffering from depression please seek help. Depression or any form of mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of. It is no different than living with asthma or diabetes. There are treatments and medications now to help with this. Don’t lose a loved one to suicide. It’s the worst grief possible
