One year ago, I received a phone call that no parent should ever have to answer;  Luke’s passing away across the world left us all heartbroken and struggling to understand why God chose our young and bright son to cross over before he could live the full life we had expected and taken for granted.

Luke left behind so many family members and friends who love him and remember him. And I am always so grateful when his friends reach out to me with stories of he touched their lives. Thank you for this as it helps heal my heart each time.

This past weekend, we visited family in Pittsburgh, PA to celebrate Luke’s life together and spent time doing things we know he enjoyed.

At the airport waiting for our flight home, I asked Luke for a sign, as I often do when I am sad, and shortly before boarding, he gave me a piece of his light and love.

There are often no words for what we don’t understand, but there are joyful memories and signs that his Spirit is still with all of us in this world.

Much love to all and thank you for being a part of Luke’s life.

We have such fond memories of Luke and his family. He was part of the fabric that made this neighborhood such a special place to live. We watched as Luke and the kids on the block played together like a bunch of puppies, not knowing how lucky they were to have each other. This neighborhood Halloween photo captured that essence. When we moved to our house on 36th Ave NE we had no idea of the amazing neighborhood we had become a part of...so many wonderful kids on our block eager to be pals to our young daughters. Luke was always one of the favorite visitors when he would come out to play with Alice & Muriel. So loving and kind.
