Luis Enrique's obituary

Luis Enrique Dominguez Rodriguez (49) was born on November 24,1974, in Mexico City. His mother worked multiple jobs to take care of her family –a fact of which he was both proud and grateful. His family was originally from a town called Cuautla in the Morelos state of Mexico. His extended family lived there so he visited regularly, growing up with a mix of big city life and quieter, small-town experiences. He was an athlete by nature since childhood and played baseball, soccer, and later on american football teams at university (Pumas) and graduate school (Borregos). He loved Psytrance music and attended raves across Mexico in his youth. He brought that love with him to the States and met his wife while living in North Carolina. He eventually started mixing music himself, going by the DJ name “Balam” (Mayan for “Jaguar”). He and his wife were married 6 years before life took them in separate directions and they divorced amicably. Luis was an enthusiastic dancer and his passion for music ran through his heart and soul. After moving to the Pacific Northwest, he broadened his dancing even further with more styles.. He was fun and full of life, a wonderful member of all the dance communities that he was involved with. He was an accountant and marketing consultant and was content in his career, while continuing to build and seek new avenues to use his skills and talents. He was motivated and hard-working, and continued to be active throughout adulthood. He was a dedicated yogi during the last several years of his life and was in excellent shape. He enjoyed calisthenics and challenging himself with new goals and activities. He also enjoyed time with friends and family, being an uncle, and exploring the beautiful world around him through outdoor activities and travel.

Luis lived in Vancouver, Washington and was beginning and enjoying the next chapter of his life with his mother, sister, nephew, and girlfriend. He passed away on October 13, 2024 doing one of the things he loved the most—dancing to good music while surrounded by his friends and partner. Though Luis was healthy and strong, he had encountered intermittent and sometimes confusing or sporadic symptoms and was currently seeking medical help and tests to determine next steps. To our shock and devastation, he suffered a heart attack the night of his death and passed away very quickly from cardiac arrest. Though he is not physically with us anymore, his energy, love, laughter, and memories will live on with us forever. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten. We are so grateful for the gift he was to all of us and all that we learned from him. We love you, Luis.

Luis is survived by Enriqueta Rodriguez Zapata (mother), Quezni Jazmin Dominguez Rodriguez (sister), Ian Emiliano Mason Dominguez (nephew), and Nikki Frederick (partner). Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Luis is preceded in death by Oscar Dominguez Rodriguez (father), and by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Oregon on 11/2/2024 from 1:30 - 4pm in his honor. Address for this service is 8900 SW Commercial St, Tigard, OR 97223. Condolences and donations can be made through his memorial page https://everloved.com/life-of…
