Luis's obituary

Luis Jediel Aviles Rodriguez was born on July 1st, 2002 in Aibonito, PR and died on March 12th, 2020 in Orlando, FL at the age of 17.

He grew up in Central Florida and although he didn’t drive yet, he knew every street better than a GPS. Luis knew where every store in Waterford Lakes was and could point it out with his eyes closed.

He visited Puerto Rico often enough to call it his second home. Besides the sight seeing and the home-cooked meals by grandma, his favorite part about visiting was going to the flee market and going ona shopping spree, buying gifts for everyone in his family.

Luis attended University High School, where he was popular enough for the deans to know his name. He was a part of the Best Buddies club and played outdoor games with students with special needs. He then attended Downey Christian School. Luis made many friends there, including the cafeteria and office staff, and often visited his mother’s first grade classroom to occasionally bother her for a good laugh. Both school were backgrounds of some of his greatest instagram pictures.

His hobbies included playing basketball, getting dubs on Fornite, and looking at himself in the mirror. Luis knew how good he looked, and it took several types of hairstyles to final settle on his luxurious curly hair. He was goofy and warm, with a good sense of justice and a witty personality. He liked to put a little fun in his day, even if it would sometimes get him in trouble. He could always make someone laugh and make someone’s day. Luis loved helping the homeless, always giving out the cash in his pocket whenever he could. He had a big heart.

Luis’ interests include tv shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Prison Break, songs by Drake and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and name brands such as Gucci and Louis Vuitton, which is why he’s nicknamed “Luis Vuitton.”

He attended Iglesia Cristiana Hispana Discípulos de Cristo Norte de Orlando. He spent time helping the Sunday School teachers and attending the high school youth group. All the little kids loved him, but he had adoring fans in the youth group too.

Luis was the beloved son of Jennifer Rodriguez, and his step-father, Ovett Lugo. So beloved, his mother started using Luis’ slang around the house, and often referred to each other as “Jit.” Luis would also compare biceps with his step-father, who occasionally let him win in any spontaneous wrestling matches around the house.

He is survived by his two sisters, older sister Jeidelyz Aviles Rodriguez and younger sister Cynara Lugo. Being the middle child and the only boy gave him a great opportunity to be the star of the family. Luis was always the highlight of Jeidy’s snapchat stories and he loved hanging out in Cynara’s room as he compliments himself in her mirror.

Luis was loved by all, adored by all, and will always be remembered by all.
