Lucy's obituary
Lucy Anne "Lulu" Howe, 66, of Lowden, Iowa, peacefully passed away in her sleep on Tuesday, January 22, 2024. She was born on February 19, 1957, in Burlington, Iowa, to her parents. Lucy attended Southeastern Community College in Burlington and graduated with an associate's degree in business.
Throughout her life, Lucy held various jobs, including office secretary, cook, nursing home aide, home cleaner, saleswoman, and detasseled. However, she found her true purpose as a stay-at-home grandma, dedicating herself to caring for her grandchildren.
Lucy was a beloved member of the Zion United Church of Christ and Women's Fellowship. She actively participated in teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and assisting with various church activities. Lucy was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a life member of the Amvets in Lowden.
In her free time, Lucy enjoyed playing cards, bingo, sewing, baking, and volunteering for special events and occasions. She found joy in helping others and brought happiness to those around her.
Survivors include her children, Deanna (Ted) Windsor of Lowden, Cynthia (Don) Johnston of Cedar Rapids, and Nathaniel Howe of Mount Vernon, Washington. She is also survived by her ex-wife, Indira of Wylie, Texas, and her grandchildren, nephews and nieces, Brett, Jamie, Jewell, Amanda, Mitchell, Steven and Brad. Along with immediate cousins Jimmy and Kim from Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, husband Jon, a brother, sister, three brothers-in-law, and a sister-in-law.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, at the United Church of Crawfordsville, officiated by Pastor Jason Collier. Following the service, Lucy will be laid to rest at Crawfordsville Cemetery.
The Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
Lucy Anne Howe will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched with her kindness and love. May she rest in eternal peace.
