Lu Ann's obituary

Lu Ann Sullivan, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on August 13, 2024, at the age of 90. Born in Arcadia, IA, to William and Lucille McTaggart, Lu Ann grew up in Fort Dodge with her six siblings. She dedicated her life to caring for others from a young age, and chose to study nursing at Creighton University and Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart.

She met and married James Sullivan in 1955 and they started what would become a large, loving family. Together, they raised their nine children in Des Moines, and were married for 42 years.

As a mother, grandmother, and friend, she brought joy and laughter to everyone she met. She carried her witty sense of humor and love of sharing stories with her through her final days, and cherished time spent with her family more than anything.

Lu Ann is survived by her brother Bob, sister Kathy, and brother Mike; her children, Jim (Nancy), Peggy (Mike), Patty (Dave), Pat (Joyce), Tim (Angie), and Mary (Shannon); as well as 18 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lucille, brother David, brother Bill, sister Donna, husband James, daughter Tammy, son Mike (Tina), and daughter Kathy (Mike).

While we mourn this loss, we take comfort in knowing that her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
