I had the pleasure to work with Carroll at Ft Meade, DPTMS in 1991 - 1992.  He was a true professional and always only had kind words.  I received a Meritorious Medal (MSM) because he took the time to recognize me which supports his mentorship of young men.  Interesting to note, this MSM was my 1st and only one received until I retired years later from the Army.
