Loviece's obituary

Loviece C. Brazley, a proud veteran, accomplished public servant, and cherished “Pop Pop”, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 22, 2025, at the age of 90.

Born on January 31, 1935, in Mobile, AL, Loviece was the only child of Bessie Twyner and Loviece C. Brazley Sr.

His life was marked by quiet strength, sharp wit, and an unwavering commitment to service, knowledge, and family in his own unique way.

In 1956, Loviece enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served until 1960 as a Medical Laboratory Assistant, earning the rank of Airman Second Class (A/2C). After completing his technical training at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas, he was stationed at Mitchel Air Force Base in New York, working with dedication at the 2500 USAF Hospital. He was known for his discipline, focus, and steady professionalism, ultimately receiving an honorable discharge.

During a pre-enlistment health screening, he met Osceola, the woman who would later become his beloved wife. Though reserved by nature and not one to seek out company, Loviece welcomed the energy and warmth Osceola brought into their home. Their marriage was a partnership rooted in family and tradition. Together, they raised their son, Loviece “Tony” Brazley, and created a home filled with simple joys, outdoor activities, and spirited conversation.

Though not always outwardly expressive, Loviece led by quiet example. He and his son connected over football games, thoughtful debates, and shared moments of wisdom. He showed his support through consistency, subtle encouragement, and presence in the moments that mattered.

Loviece built a long and respected civilian career with the U.S. Department of Energy, where he contributed to major national projects, including the Uranium Mill Tailings Remedial Action Project. His work reflected the same steadiness and precision he brought to every area of life.

In his younger years, Loviece delighted in playing golf, enjoying both the sport and the camaraderie that came with it. And while he preferred solitude to social gatherings, he took genuine pleasure in the lively family and friend get-togethers that Osceola lovingly orchestrated in their home.

Later in life, his grandchildren—Nina, Gabrielle, Camila, and Jorge—became his greatest joy. He had a soft spot for their homemade sweet treats, and nothing made him light up quite like a fresh batch of cookies baked just for him. His dry wit, sarcasm, and perfectly timed one-liners brought laughter and warmth to every room he entered.

In his final years, as he navigated the challenges of COPD, Loviece was cared for with deep love and devotion by his family. It was their honor and privilege to walk alongside him—through every transition, every memory shared, and every quiet moment—all the way through hospice. His quiet strength, even in illness, was a testament to the steady resilience that defined his life.

He is survived by his son Loviece “Tony” Brazley, daughter-in-law Maria Gabriela, grandchildren Nina, Gabrielle, Camila, and Jorge, and sister-in-law Joyce Boykin, along with nephew Greg Boykin and family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Osceola, and his parents Bessie Twyner and Loviece C. Brazley Sr.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in Loviece’s memory to support the education of his grandchildren—an enduring tribute to a man who believed in the quiet power of knowledge, love, and living life on one’s own terms.
