Dee Dee Pratt Gillie, 45, Eden, died Monday afternoon, October 3, 2005 at Morehead Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 6, 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in El Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Dee Dee was born in Key West, Florida to Virginia Butler Pratt and the late Donald S. Pratt. She was a member of El Bethel Presbyterian Church and attended First Presbyterian Church in Eden. She graduated from Morehead High School and Ferrum College with a Bachelors of Social Work. Dee Dee had a love for people young and old and shared it in many ways throughout her community. She was most recently employed by Rockingham County Schools and was a teacher's assistant at Douglass Elementary School. Prior to working with the school system she was a social worker with Hospice of Rockingham County and in the early years of her social work career, worked with the Brian Center. Dee Dee was a true inspiration to all those who knew her. Her smile and giving spirit will be truly missed.

Surviving is her husband of 21 years, Wayne Gillie of the home; daughters, Emily Gillie and Sarah Gillie, both of the home; mother, Virginia Butler Pratt of Eden; sisters, Josie Cooley and husband, Charles of Waynesboro, Pa. and Sue Nixon and husband, Brian of Denver, N.C.; brother, David Pratt and wife, Sue of Laurel, MD; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald S. Pratt; and her mother-in-law, Jean Gillie.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, 7-9 p.m. at Fair Funeral Home.
