Louis's obituary

Louis Smith (May 7, 1930 - August 19, 2025) has embarked on her eternal journey. A loving mother, sister, grandmother and community stalwart, Louis was a ray of strength and determination. Her absence will leave an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew her.

She is mourned by her sons, Dennis and Denorris Smith, her sister Janice Smith-Lovell, and her grandchildren Delicia, Jakell, and Jordan Smith. Each one of them embraced a special part in her heart, and their memories of her will continue to keep her spirit alive.

Louis retired in 1995 from Kroger, where she diligently worked and contributed to the community. Her spirit of giving didn't stop there; she volunteered at The Salvation Army, proving that she was not just a successful career woman but a compassionate human being.

She had an admirable passion for life, and she expressed this through her love for simple pleasures. She enjoyed a glass of ice-cold water and cold milk before bed. Her favorite tunes were from Michael Jackson and Tina Turner. An occasional game of Dominos brought her joy, along with the peace she found in knitting and cooking for her family.

Louis loved visiting Atlanta, GA, which she considered her favorite vacation spot. Her life revolved around the causes she cared about - primarily her two children and three grandchildren. Her world was a blend of warm red, her favorite color. Her personality could be described as being reserved initially, but once that barrier was broken, she was the most compassionate soul you would ever meet.

The funeral service in honor of Louis will be  held on August 30, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Deisler Funeral Home. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her loved ones.

One of the most valuable lessons Louis taught us was to treat others how we want to be treated. This, along with her values of hard work, love, and determination, forms her enduring legacy.

Though she is no longer with us, her essence remains etched in our hearts and minds. Her memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. We, her family and friends, will greatly miss her.
