I worked with Lou at Guiding Eyes and found him to be a warm and kind man who loved the dogs and did much to support our mission. As a southerner, I enjoyed  chatting with Lou about his plans to move to Tennessee; as well as many other topics. Lou will be missed. My condolences to your family.
I had the honor and privilege of working with Lou at IBM for a number of years.  Lou was as we like to say, 'one of the good guys'.  Lou's obituary says it best in describing him as a witty observer of the world and a tolerator of people.  That's how he was at IBM.  I always trusted Lou's advice and enjoyed talking to him on a professional and personal level.  My condolences to Lou's family on his passing.
Lou worked with me from 2001 until he retired. I remember asking him why he was retiring and he expressed his strong desire to work with one of his passions - dogs.  I have always admired that. Very smart and nice person all around. Did I mention smart ? I fondly recall economic debates about pricing. Always an IBMer. My condolences to his family.  Rest in peace Lou.
It was a pleasure to know and work with Lou at Guiding Eyes for the Blind.  His love for our puppies and dogs were genuine.  I have fond memories of Lou and Newman and the bond they shared, of Lou's gentle, kind demeanor and of the best quiche in the world that he was always happy to share with us.  My sincere sympathy and prayers to all.

I had the incredible good fortune of having Louis as a friend since childhood and throughout our time together, he proved himself to be one of the most genuine people I have known.  Lou always had an interesting perspective on life, an interest in trying new things and although he always enjoyed a good laugh, it was never at the expense of another.  My life was immensely richer for having Lou in it and I will dearly miss him and our time together.  My sincerest condolences to Jeanne, Geoffrey, Gordon and Margaret.

Jeanne I'm so very sad and sorry about Lou's passing.  We've had such a long history with memories stretching back to North Carolina, when we were all young and Lou's eyes were the brightest of all. His smile stretches to his eyes so vividly.

My favorite memory of Lou is when he hosted us on a tour of Guiding Eyes.  His love for the dogs, his wholehearted dedication to their needs, and his intuitive connection with them taught me something.  And the puppies!!  They were all so lucky to have Lou in their corner.  He spoke for them.

Very sorry that we have lost Louis. He was a big part of my early life and changed me for the better.  I was fortunate enough to connect with him again these last few months.  He ended up helping me with a problem that had been plaguing me in recent years.  He was the best.  Love you, Louis!
Uncle Lou will be sorely missed.  I vividly remember lounging around on the big couch watching Air Bud or some other variant.  Also, I have fond memories of getting fresh bagels that were still steaming hot on the inside.
i am so sorry for your loss.lou was a gentleman and a man of first rate character;quite intelligent.he was laconic ,but witty.he was kind and welcoming and fun to be around.he was an excellent father and spouse .he loved the canine species and they loved him ,my most fond memories are him with his dogs.

Years ago …. We (Jeanne and Lou and I) bonded over Geoffrey’s music composition and shortly became good friends.  Then we bonded over a love of dogs.  Lou’s warmth and love of people and any animal was irresistible.

Lou will always hold a warm place in my heart.   My condolences to you all.

Dear Jeanne, Geoffrey and Gordon ….

It has been many years since we have been in touch. I am so sorry to read your sad news.  I will write a memory or two that I have of Lou. They are vivid memories …. He left the most caring impressions.

I hope you are feeling surrounded by love.

Jeanne, I love the picture of Lou on the rail trail (and the video you added!), because that's where I remember him most.

You and the boys are in my prayers.
