We first met at Goucher College when one of his friends was visiting Joelle Morris. I thought he was cool and handsome. Later I always thought he was handsome, not necessarily so cool, but a really good man.

One of my favorite memories of working with Lou at Guiding Eyes was the time he helped me with a puppy named Frank. He'd been named by a donor and I was tasked with taking a photo. Lou had been carrying Frank around in a sherpa bag/carrier over his shoulder, I believe to get him used it for an upcoming flight. When we were done and back to our desks I realized the collar with his name on it was upside down. I cannot get out of my head Lou's voice proclaiming over and over, "Kanarf!"
I recently wrote this for the Guiding Eyes for the Blind Puppy Raising Program Newsletter, March 2023:
We Remember... Lou Moseley
This February, Guiding Eyes and puppies everywhere lost a dear friend, Lou Moseley, after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. Lou was a Genetics staffer, kennel volunteer, home socializer, breeding dog sitter, co-raiser of Quentin, and the memorable 6ft "Joey the Dog" at many Region Coordinator Workshops. We fondly remember his personality and humor, calming presence with puppies and older dogs, and unforgettable doggy voice that told them, this guy is your friend. Our best goes out to wife Jeanne and sons Gordon and Geoffrey, and our thanks is forever with Lou.

I want to thank everyone for the many, many sympathy cards, letters, and postings. I particularly love the anecdotes a lot of folks shared. It is wonderful to know that Lou brightened many peoples' days and he was loved and is missed. I also want to thank everyone who donated to a cause for taking care of animals which was his passion.
Lou was funny and smart - he could always make me laugh and always had a different take on things than I did and was usually right. He was generous with others, but not with himself. Lou funded many experiences for his sons who he loved unreservedly, including multiple overseas adventures, but refused to buy himself a milkshake at Sonic if it wasn't half price. :) He made sure he left us all in good shape and settled before he passed.
I am grateful for the Covid lockdown because Lou had just retired and I was working from home so we were able to spend all our time together. We really enjoyed that closeness. Every day I want to tell him something, or ask him something, or get his opinion. I miss him terribly and always will. Lou, I love you.

I have so many fond memories of Lou at Guiding Eyes. He started as a weekend volunteer and would sometimes bring quiche or breakfast sandwiches to set the tone for the day. As a Breeding Kennel technician, he dove into the not-so-fun tasks so that he was sure to have plenty of time for what he enjoyed most - working 1:1 with the dogs or puppies. A quiet, consistent voice to help them process things and then a goofy, deep, fun voice for rewarding them when they figured it out. Many puppies flew quiet and content in a plane cabin thanks to Lou's tireless socialization efforts. Adult dogs struggling to acclimate to the kennel would find their inner calm in his office. Our Genetics Department has not been the same since his retirement. Meticulous with his work, and always kind with his words, we could trust his numbers and insights. I am so grateful for the time I spent learning from him. My heart goes out to Jeanne and the extended Moseley family.

I have very fond memories of our childhood together. Many Christmas & Easter family gatherings. Playing with our Lionel trains, Easter Egg hunts.
Cousin Lou had a great sense of humor, was a great story teller, a very proud father & one of the smartest people I've known.
He will be missed.
My sincere condolences.
Cousin Billy

I consider myself very lucky to have shared an office with Lou for my last few working years at Guiding Eyes for the Blind. He was such a wonderful colleague and friend; beloved by everyone who knew him at Guiding Eyes - fellow employees and volunteers. Lou had a special way with people...and with dogs! He was really the best. My sincere condolences to Jeanne and to all of Lou's family.

Dear Moseley family, my sincere condolences to you. Lou was the best of the best IBMers. He took the time to give me tips of living in the NY winter.. I still think of him when I wear the LL Bean coat he highly recommended for the winters.. he took the time to show me around guiding eye - his love of dogs was so apparent.. I’m glad he spent a lot of time with dogs after retiring from IBM.. I pray you all find the strength to get through the grief..

29 years ago, my family and I met Lou and his family. Jeanne and I became friends, and we became family friends. At the time he had a big Golden Retriever. He was sharing his beer with the dog under the dinner table. He loved beer and dog! We all miss you so much!

Togehter with Alberta and Carlo, we are deeply saddened by the unbeliavable news.
A lot of nice souvenirs, at home in Paris, in his home, but mainly working together. Working with Lou was always a pleasure and always reassuring: whatever bad issue you may be facing, he would always be there to help, bringing extraordinarily clever support with his smiling nonchalance.

Louis was my big brother, the oldest of four. I was the baby. As we grew up, I noticed he always watched out for me. The first to be at the door if a date was coming. I remember he actually took a train to a party I had in college knowing he could only stay a few hours and then would have to jump back on the train.
Life gets the best of us and we were six hours apart. Had the opportunity to entertain his family and friends in Baltimore before seeing Geoff perform in a concert. A memorable afternoon.
Eleven years ago, my family moved to Scranton about two hours from Louis and Jeanne's. Time spent with Louis , Jeanne and if Geoff and Gordon were around, were some of the BEST TIMES in my life. We experienced sad times where Louis and Jeanne hosted an unexpected possible "Super Spreader Covid Party", where they graciously fed and hosted 20 plus college kids through a really hard time. We can not ever thank you enough!!! We had to cancel a Thanksgiving due to Covid and Louis decided that next May we were going to have Thanksgiving. A wonderful time with everyone!!! Many other holidays plus the special weekend of "Louis and Jeanne's House is on the Market". What a fun and crazy weekend where they went from "Will we get an offer? " to " Oh my god, we have 23 offers!". Many laughs as their realtor texted with updates.
I will never forget the day Louis called to let me know he had not been feeling well and they finally discovered he had a mass on his pancreas. He was stoic and even when it was determined he had Stage 4, was prepared to fight. Even with chemo, cancer quickly got the best of him. He continued to fight and I can not thank Jeanne, Geoff and Gordon for the care they gave him selflessly as long as they did with out any help. Louis was one LUCKY guy to have them in his life and we were so LUCKY to have him in ours.
Thank you Louis for being my big brother, a great inspiration in my life and my friend.

Absolutely one of the best IBMer's I have ever worked with. Honest and always willing to help others. A true role model. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
