I'm missing Lorri even more than usual today. Today would have been her 64th birthday, and Theo and I would have had a fun day planned like we always did. We'd take a drive up the gorge and do a little wine tasting, or we'd go to the zoo, or maybe even the beach. And we'd always try to find a new and interesting restaurant, especially if they had sushi, which she loved. Such good times. Memories I will treasure forever.
We will Never forget Lorri, what a kind beautiful soul she was, always smiling. She sang at our wedding, and she sang on stage with our budding musician Grandson, Mason… still hard for us to believe she is gone.. We hold her in our hearts…and will never forget her kindness… 💔💔💔💕💕
I had the good fortune to share the stage with her for over 20 years with The Jammies. always the consummate pro on and off stage. Although she qualified, she was never a "diva". She'd help move gear and load the trailer and hang around for hugs before driving away. And that voice!! She laid it all out there, song after song, night after night. She'll be missed and remembered fondly. Truly, one of a a kind.
She was our secret weapon. My guilty pleasure was to watch as we unleashed her on unsuspecting audiences. She would guest unannounced with my trio The Gas Hogs. It was a true gift to stand behind her and look into wide-eyed, mouth hanging open attendees as Lorri sang with more power than any of the so called often written about other female vocalists of our fair city. I first met Lorri in the early 1980's when she was singing more pop rock material and doing a fine job at it. In later years when Lorri was married to a dear friend Greg Georgeson, I sensed she possessed a deeper well of talent and emotion. It was then we asked her to sit in with us and sing. And that material chosen by her and us just kicked ass. I was so fortunate in 2017 when she agreed to sing on my album "The Lost Cause". Her work on that speaks for itself. It was my last and final release and I knew it at the time. March 15th 2018 at the Aladdin Theatre was my last show. We closed our set with Lorri peeling paint off the back wall as she sang "Nutbush City Limit" by Tina Turner. A perfect ending. I have no words worthy to describe how she will be missed. Know this; it will a long time before talent and grace the likes of Lorri will pass this way again.
I was a classmate of Lorri‘s at Palm Springs High School. What a voice she had. So beautiful. I remember coming back from an event where she sang the Mother Superior song from “Sound of Music” (Climb every mountain). It was so fantastic. We made her do it over and over again. She will be missed.
Lorri and her boyfriend used to come by and hang with me and my girlfriend when we all lived in the Allendale apts in S.W. Portland. That was when they had the band Nimble Darts. We all did a lot of partying back then. It was around 84' and 85'. What is unusual is we all lost touch with each other around the end of 85 and hadn't thought about her since then...... till a week or so ago, and just now decided to look her up. I'm so sorry I missed her.
I cannot sum up in words how much I am going to miss this beautiful friend of mine. I will forever cherish the years we had. So many wonderful memories. So many good times. Rest in peace, sweet Lorri.
