Lorretta's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lorretta Thompson on April 6, 2024. Lorretta was born in Castine, Maine on August 15, 1948, the beloved daughter of the late James and Margie Cutler. She was a source of strength, love, and wisdom to all who knew her, her remarkable giving spirit reflecting in her everyday actions.

Lorretta is lovingly remembered by her husband, Tom Thompson, her daughters; Stacey Henley, Kricket Franklin, Parker Thompson, as well as her stepdaughters; Stacy Green and Holly Petersen. She leaves behind a legacy of love (a true story of love) through her son, Michael Cutler.  Her sisters; Portia Stewart, Dorothy Frazier, and Crystal Cutler. Lorretta was preceded in death by her father, mother and brother, Carl Cutler.

Lorretta’s greatest accomplishments were writing and publishing two books, first book titled 'Letters from World War II' showing us the love between her grandmother and father.   Not only raising her children to be strong, generous and to always have love but she also contributed to the well-being and growth of her nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

She taught others the importance of family, friends and strength. To Dance through hard times (double cancer survivor). She was an amazing woman who dedicated her life to the care and well-being of her family.

From a young age, Lorretta showed a unique connection to nature and had a profound love for wildlife. This passion led her to support causes involved in rehabilitating wildlife. In an attempt to continue Lorretta's legacy, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, go to https://shop.alivingtribute.o… and plant a tree in her honor or on this site go to flowers/plant trees.  If you prefer to donate in her honor to a cause visit https://everloved.com/life-of… and help celebrate and commemorate Lorretta's life to an animal or nature related cause.

Though Lorretta may not be with us physically, her loving spirit and wise teachings will continue to live on and guide us. Her unwavering love for her family and friends, her deep connection with nature and the impact she made on everyone she met make even her absence profoundly felt.  "Keep celebrating each day of life and always look forward" she would say and BREATHE.

We invite all those who knew and loved Lorretta to join us in remembering and celebrating her extraordinary life.
