Lorraine's obituary

Lorraine Dorothy Apodaca, born on January 6, 1945, in Woodland, California, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Her sister, Kelly, her children, Mario and Julie, and her granddaughter, Samantha, were by her side, providing comfort and warmth as she took her final breaths. In her last days, Lorraine was also tenderly cared for by her beloved niece, Sandie, and her great-grandson, Little Ryan, whose presence brought her joy and solace.

For over two decades, Lorraine bravely battled Parkinson’s disease with the same strength and grace that defined her life. She faced each challenge with courage, never allowing it to diminish her spirit or her deep love for her family.

Lorraine’s life was defined by the kindness and love she extended to everyone she knew, making her a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She was the daughter of Joe and Charlotte Apodaca and was raised in a close-knit family alongside her brothers Jim, Arthur, David, and Roger, and her sisters, Darlene, Charlotte, and Kelly. Her childhood was filled with warmth and love—a foundation she carried forward into the life she built for herself.

Lorraine was the proud mother of five children: Louie, Mario, John, Angie, and Julie. She was also blessed with 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. Her legacy continues through Cosmo, Samantha, Boomer, Marcel, and Nicholas, whom she lovingly helped raise, instilling in them the values that defined her life.

Lorraine was a vibrant, enterprising woman with a heart full of generosity. She bought and sold many homes, each one filled with family and friends, creating spaces that became the backdrop for countless joyful gatherings. Her ability to bring people together was a reflection of her deep, unwavering love for those around her.

In her younger years, Lorraine had a love for adventure, and one of her favorite pastimes was riding her Harley Davidson. The freedom of the open road and the thrill of the ride brought her immense joy, and it became a beloved hobby that added excitement to her life.

A true entrepreneur at heart, Lorraine started various businesses, including selling burritos under the name "Ed’s Burritos," and operating a jewelry shop in Esparto, California. She also ran "Rainy’s Thrift Store," a place where she connected with her community and shared her passion for giving new life to old treasures. Lorraine’s work ethic was remarkable; she dedicated herself to her role as a healthcare provider alongside her niece Sandie, whom she loved and adored. Despite her many jobs, Lorraine always found time to help raise and nurture many of her grandchildren, passing on the values of love, kindness, and resilience.

Music was a constant source of joy for Lorraine, with a special place in her heart reserved for the songs of Janis Joplin. Her love for music was one of the many ways she found beauty and inspiration in the world.

Lorraine's life was a beautiful testament to the power of love and the strength of family. Her wisdom, generous spirit, and the boundless love she shared will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. While Lorraine will be deeply missed, her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

A service to celebrate Lorraine’s life will be held at 231 Williams Street in Woodland, CA, on Sunday, September 1st, from 1 pm to 3 pm. The family warmly invites all who knew and loved her to join in honoring her remarkable life.
