Lorissa's obituary
Lorissa Ann Joyner died unexpectedly on June 17, 2023, at the age of 53 at her home in Black Canyon City, AZ. The exact cause has not been determined yet, but she had many health problems.
Lorissa was born to Jessica and Samuel Joyner in Stillwater, Minnesota, on January 15, 1970. She spent her childhood in Minnesota and California. She was 18 when she moved to Las Vegas where she had two daughters, Ashley and Amber. When she was in her 20s, she and her daughters moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin, where she met Scott Compton and had two more daughters, Candice and Caitlyn. After her daughters were grown, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona, to be closer to her mother.
Lorissa moved to Black Canyon City, Arizona, in 2016 to care for her mother who had become bedridden. Lorissa happily cared for her mom for the next few years, but then her health began to fail, so her brother Walt moved in to help. In her spare time, she enjoyed photography, photo editing, journaling, writing poetry, and reading her Bible. She also loved playing with her beloved cat, Bubba. She was a very kindhearted, loving, and generous woman who had an entertaining sense of humor. She adored her daughters and grandchildren but couldn’t see them often as they lived far away.
Lorissa is survived by her four daughters and three grandchildren: Caitlyn Powell and her two children Jayce and Keely of Green Bay, WI; Candice Powell and her daughter, Sonja of Green Bay, WI; Amber Lundgreen of Millcreek, UT, and Ashley (Kevin) Moffit of Salt Lake City, UT. She is also survived by her mother Jessica Dumas of Black Canyon City, AZ; stepmother Carol (Ken) Gregory of Mattoon, IL; brothers Walter Dumas of Black Canyon City, AZ, Eric (Cecilia) Dumas of Northridge, CA, and Troy (Lora) Joyner of Mattoon, IL; sisters Janelle Hesse and Ann Beck of Mattoon, IL; uncles Cassidy (Marilee) Mattson of Virginia, MN, and Jonathan (Roxan) Mattson of Stillwater, MN; aunts Dolores (Richard) King of New Richmond, WI, and Debra (Ray) Fort of Virginia, MN; several step-brothers/sisters, and many cousins as well as other relatives and friends.
Lorissa was preceded in death by her husband Scott Compton, brother Brian Joyner, cousin Jayme Brunell, stepfather Robert Dumas Sr, niece Anyah Dumas, grandparents Lorraine and Nels Mattson, and biological father Sam Joyner.
