Lori's obituary

Lori Jo (Pangburn) Williams, 61, passed away on September 19, 2020 after a brief stay in the critical care unit at Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Lori was born in Des Moines, Iowa on May 25, 1959 to Sherrill and William Pangburn. Lori grew up on the southside of Des Moines in Greenfield Plaza attending Lincoln and Tech High School. Helping others was something that she loved doing. She worked at Des Moines General Hospital as a Unit Clerk for fifteen years in the 80s and 90s. She most recently worked for Senior Helpers in Des Moines helping the elderly with their daily care in their homes.

Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. There are many good memories during her periods of sobriety. When her eldest grandchild Lily was born, she stayed home and looked after her while Nicole earned her college degree. When her other grandchildren were born she was there, helping any way she could. She would come help with the laundry and the house as well as looking after the grandchildren. Lots of time was spent filling the house with laughter when the kids were little.

Lori battled mental illness and a long journey with alcoholism. When alcoholism reared its head, alcohol became the most important thing in her life. Though she had completed treatment multiple times, at one point having eight years of sobriety, ultimately the disease won.

Lori is survived by her husband, Charles, two children: Sarah (Charles) Davis and Nicole Sullivan, step daughter Andrea (Shawn) Durbin, Grandchildren; Ricardo Faber, Lillian Jo Sullivan, Colton Davis, Maria Davis, Caleb Davis, Aidan Sullivan, and Christian Davis, her sisters; Debbie (Dave) Wallukait and Susie (Kevin) Pangburn Leinen, brother Gary Pangburn, nieces, nephews and an abundance of cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Diane.
