Loretta Klaus, age 89, of Hawthorn Woods, IL, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on July 18, 1935, in Chicago, IL, Loretta lived a life marked by strength, courage, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Klaus, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Loretta was known for her honest heart, sharp wit, and generous spirit.
She faced life’s trials with grace and an unshakable will, never allowing adversity to silence her voice or dim her spirit. Her courage was quiet but powerful, reflected not only in the challenges she overcame but, in the compassion, loyalty, and fierce love she offered to those around her.
She enjoyed traveling, reading, baking, attending Sunday mass, and luncheons with friends. Her home was always a welcoming place, full of laughter, stories, and love. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her family.
Preceded in death by her loving husband Frank, and her cherished great grandchild Frank, Loretta is survived by her daughters, Lori DiGioia (Larry DiGioia) and Anni Ford (Ken Smith); grandchildren Carli Paz (Ozzy Paz), Jacqui Thomas (Trevor Thomas), Kaysi Marshall (Brad Marshall), Nikki Blum (Grant Blum) and Brittani Hutchison (Allen Hutchison); great grandchildren Luke, Caden, Tristen, Austin, Landon, Shane, Hudson, Enzo, Gio, AJ, Theo and June and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, July 19, to honor her 90th birthday. There will be a mass at St. Francis de Sales followed by a celebration at her home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Stand Up to Cancer or Little Sisters of the Poor in her memory.
Her legacy of love, loyalty, and resilience will live on in the hearts of many.
