Loretta Bates, 70, formerly of Hartland, Michigan passed away on January 12th 2023 due to natural causes. She died peacefully at her home surrounded by family. She was loved and cherished by her friends and family and we will miss her greatly.

Loretta was born on July 22, 1952 to Cecil and Goldie (Nickerson) Dodd in Highland Park, Michigan. Loretta was a hardworking woman and provider for her children. She worked many years as a school bus driver and as a truck driver for Livingston County Road Commission, from which she retired. After retirement she grew to enjoy reading and painting, though her favorite thing was always spending time with her grandchildren.

In 1968 Loretta married Robert Woodin, who she had three children with (Robbie, Ryan and Kerry). Though their marriage did not last they remained good friends and share 4 grandchildren together.

In 1996 she married Stuart Bates and they had three children together (Cody, Sierra and Savanna) and one grandchild.

She was predeceased by her parents, Cecil and Goldie, her son Robbie, her brothers  Lyle and Hugh, and her husband, Stuart. She is survived by her siblings, Lucy (Terry) Kazakos, Luella (Arthur) Gilroy and Lisa (Gary) Wissmueller, her children, Ryan, Kerry, Cody, Sierra, Savanna, her ex-husband, Robert Woodin, and 5 beloved grandchildren, Lacie, Mackenzie, Myles, Kelsey, and Everleigh.
