In Loving Memory of Loren Larson
Loren Larson, born on July 1947, departed from this world on April 9, 2024 due to medical complications. He leaves behind a legacy marked by unwavering dedication, profound bravery, and steadfast service.
Growing up amidst the sweeping plains of Hettinger, North Dakota, Loren embodied the spirit of resilience and fortitude from an early age. A graduate of high school in 1965, he soon found himself answering the call of duty, bravely stepping into the ranks of the United States Army in October 1966.
Following his induction, Loren underwent rigorous training, including Basic Training at Fort Benning, GA. His journey continued with specialized training as an Army Medic, preparing him for the challenges ahead.
Assigned to Kenner Army Hospital at Fort Lee, VA, Loren exemplified compassion and skill in his role, providing crucial medical support to his fellow servicemen. In January 1968, he was deployed to Vietnam with the 25th Infantry Division, 25th Medical Battalion, Company 'C', Cu Chi, RVN. In May 1968, he was reassigned to the 101st Airborne Division at Camp Eagle, RVN, where he continued to serve with distinction as the Senior Aidman for Company 'A' of the 215th Infantry Regiment.
His tour of duty in Vietnam concluded in October 1968, when he returned to the Oakland Army Terminal, having completed his service to his country with honor and valor. Discharged from the US Army, Loren carried with him a deep sense of duty and a profound commitment to his fellow veterans. A true patriot and devoted community member, Loren remained active in veterans' organizations throughout his life. As a Lifetime member of VFW Post #10386 in Kingman, AZ, he found camaraderie and purpose, participating in the post honor guard with pride and dedication. In Utah, he continued his service as an active member of American Legion Post #76, lending his support to fellow veterans and proudly serving with the Honor Guard.
Loren's memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and fellow veterans, who salute his courage, honor his sacrifice, and remember his unwavering dedication to duty, country, and comrades. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing his service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
