Lorain's obituary
Lorain Mitchell, born on February 2, 1932, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025. Greatly adored by her family and friends, she left behind a legacy of love, peace, and gratitude.
She is survived by her son Steven Mitchell, her granddaughters Jacklyn and Taylee Kennedy, her grandsons Zane Kennedy and Tyler Mitchell. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles Mitchell, and her daughter, Deborah Mitchell.
Lorain had an affinity for the simple pleasures in life. Her favorite foods were anything with chocolate, accompanied by a glass of orange juice, her preferred drink. She was a lover of music, with 'Purple Rain' by Prince being her all-time favorite song. Her vibrant personality was often described as goofy, bright, kind, radiant, and giving, filling the room with warmth and laughter.
As an avid knitter, Lorain cherished the quiet moments sitting in her chair, knitting beautiful patterns. She also enjoyed taking daily walks, embracing the beauty of nature. Leadership in support of the foster care system was one of the causes closest to her heart, and she had a habit of advocating passionately for it.
Her favorite hue was blue, just like the expansive, open sky, reflecting her radiant and giving nature. Always embodying a spirit of thankfulness, one of Lorain's greatest lessons was always to be grateful for what one has because of its transient nature. Her legacy will forever be remembered as one of loving one another for who we are and finding peace within ourselves.
Her life, a true testament to her values, was filled with joy, generosity, and kindness. Lorain's presence will greatly be missed, but her spirit will continue to live on through the lessons and memories she left behind.
