Lois's obituary
Lois Ann Bartlett, aged 85, peacefully passed away, surrounded by her close family, on February 12th, 2022. Lois was a devoted and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, extended family member and a good friend to many.
She was born in May of 1936 in Erie, Pennsylvania and lived in Pennsylvania, Florida, and New Jersey. She will be remembered for her ability to easily make friends and talk to people, her amazing cooking, casino trips with family, being an avid Phillies fan, her love of nature and a spark at family gatherings. She enjoyed working as a telephone switch operator, office worker, and in grocery and jewelry stores. She was devoted to her community as an active PTA president with the Merchantville School, volunteer at Westfield Friends, and a member of the Altar Guild at the Grace Episcopal Church of Merchantville, NJ.
If you knew Lois, she immediately became your friend and was well liked by all who were lucky to spend time with her. She had an empathetic heart; able to listen and understand any issues you had and share her life experiences to your benefit. She was beyond generous throughout her life and gave what she could to help, many times just lending an ear to boost your spirits as needed. She had a positive outlook on handling situations for herself or others and a moniker that fits is “Yes I can, says Lois Ann!” We will miss her cheerful personality and friendship that is now remembered by the love she leaves behind.
And of all her many accomplishments, her family was her greatest triumph. She was the queen bee, proudest mom, supportive aunt, and most boastful grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed dearly as she gave her love to the fullest. She is the daughter of the late Everett N. and Helen M. (Clark) Sweeney. Widow of Thomas Loveys Bartlett who died in 1982. Mother of Laurie and her husband Lee Fleisher of Pennsauken, NJ, and Meghan and her husband Scott Dreyfus of Doylestown, PA. Lois was also like a mother to Marnie Davis and her family Michael, Ava and Laura of Mt. Laurel, NJ. She is survived by her sister Kathleen Foster (late husband Bill) of New Wilmington, PA, and her sister-in-law Nancy Sweeney (late husband Richard) of McKean, PA. Four grandchildren (Michael (Marissa Fleisher), Emma (Charles Korang), Colton, and Cooper), and three great-grandchildren of Michael and Marissa’s (Emeline, Everett, and Thaddeus). She is also survived by nieces and nephews [Scott Foster (Kristie Foster) and Erin Brazel (Mark Brazel), Brian Sweeney (Michelle Sweeney), John David Sweeney, and Colleen Sherk (Doug Sherk)] and a number of grand nieces and nephews (Carley Fleck (Marcus Fleck and baby Anniston), Everly Foster, Drew Anderson, Amber Sweeney, Justin Sweeney, Brandon Sweeney, and Ashlee Lowe (Hunter and baby Hayden). Lois also has many beloved cousins with whom she stayed close with throughout her life and always enjoyed gathering together and catching up on old times at the Clark family reunion in Erie, PA.
Private family services will be held in the Spring time. In memory of Lois, she wished to have donations be made to Grace Episcopal Church (7 East Maple Avenue, Merchantville, NJ 08109).
