Lois's obituary
It is with heavy but happy hearts that we share with you the passing of Lois Margaret Aufmann (nee Buttenbender) November 24, 2025.
Lois was born on August 25, 1929 to William and Helen Buttenbender. Married to Wilbert N. Aufmann. Sister to Bill Buttenbender/Jean.
Known to many as 'LoLo' she preferred to be called Lois. A remarkable lady… Lois lived a life of kindness and resilience.
She was born in Chicago Illinois. Worked and lived most of her life in the area graduating high school...
Being a homemaker by trade she was always involved with doing something from cooking the nightly family dinner, to bandaging a scraped knee, to helping her kids with their homework and everything in between; including being a den mother for Boy Scouts, working in the school cafeteria, craft shows and in her later years enjoyed cruises with family… And of course chocolate!
Her husband Wilbert ('Willy' as he was called by those who both knew and loved him) was a sheet metal tradesmen for 30 years. The breadwinner of the family, and it was because of him, Mom lived financially free and fulfilling life after his passing in 1998.
There is clearly insufficient room here to share each and every attribute they both contributed to our lives… The list would be endless!
She survived by her devoted son Gary Aufmann, amazing daughter Beth Bradley, loving niece Nancy Ness and their families… Who feel incredibly blessed to have had such an amazing mother/mother-in-law – grandmother/great grandmother – aunt/great aunt.
Despite our grief we are blessed and comforted by the many wonderful memories we shared with her and will forever cherish these precious moments made.
She was the bedrock of our family and her loving spirit will continue to guide us all.
Lois is resting in Ridgewood Memorial Park next to her husband Willy.
