Lloyd's obituary
Lloyd Julian Packard, age 74, of Wamego, Kansas passed from this life on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.
Lloyd was born August 14, 1951 in Walsh, Colorado, the son of Osa Julian and Lois Laverne Packard, the second oldest of four children.
He graduated from Walsh High School with the class of 1969. During and after high school, he worked several years with his father at Packard Electric as an electrician.
While working as an electrical supervisor at Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant, Lloyd met Brenda. They were later joined in marriage on October 30, 1981, and to this union they were blessed with two children.
Lloyd loved and took great pride in his work as an electrician. After leaving Wolf Creek he spent the remainder of his electrical career working for Current Electrical and Torgeson Electric, both of Topeka, Kansas. He retired from Torgeson Electric in April of 2019. Retirement didn’t slow him down as he was never one to be idle, Lloyd started a small business repairing foreclosed properties and taking on various other side jobs.
He loved being outdoors, with fishing as his favorite pastime. Spending time on his lawn mower or in God’s great outdoors was where he felt most content. If you were looking for Lloyd and couldn’t find him, you could almost guarantee he was in his garage working on some sort of project. A true jack of all trades, there truly wasn’t much he couldn’t figure out. He was always willing to do anything for anyone, at any time, with no complaints.
Lloyd was a man of faith and a member of Crestview Christian Church in Manhattan, Kansas. He especially enjoyed his one-on-one conversations with Devin and knew he could always confide and trust him.
Lloyd was a proud and dedicated husband, dad and granddad. He made every effort to attend his grandchildren’s events and was immensely proud of each of them. He had a unique sense of humor that the grandkids grew to love and would give it right back to him. He took dancing lessons from them, became Mickey Mouse and did whatever he could think of to entertain them. He shared a special bond with each one of them.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his father, Osa Julian Packard; stepmother, Phyllis Packard; and his mother, Lois Laverne Packard.
He leaves at his passing, his wife, Brenda Packard of the home; sons, Trevor Tate (Abby) of Pueblo, Colorado and Joshua Packard (Jennifer) of Belvue, Kansas; daughters, Cheri Marten (Scott) of Pueblo, Colorado and Arianne Engel (Bret) of Wamego, Kansas; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Deloris Packard of Walsh, Colorado and Kathy Painter of Springfield, Missouri; brother, Theron Packard (Brenda) of Walsh, Colorado; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Lloyd was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.
