Lisa's obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lisa Gail Robarts, beloved wife, mother, and sister. She passed away on August 20, 2024, at the age of 64.

First and foremost, Lisa was a woman of faith. Every evening, she would retire to her room, pouring over the Scriptures and pouring out her heart in prayer. She was constantly leading Bible studies at South Reno Baptist Church and at Bible Study Fellowship. She served as a friend and mentor to many women, both young and old. She raised her children in the fear of the Lord, even when it hurt. And she bathed all of this in prayer. In keeping with James 5:16, more often than not, her prayers were answered.

Lisa was also passionate about nursing, graduating valedictorian from UCLA’s nursing program. Despite this achievement, she never talked about her education because her goal was not accolades, but quality care. And this was what she provided, patiently and tirelessly caring for patients at Renown Medical Center for more than twenty years. Though this job was taxing in many ways, she rarely complained and always had time and energy for her family.

Lisa was a devoted wife and mother. She fell in love and married Don in 1986 and together they raised two children. Her desires were twofold: that her children would be devoted Christians and that they would receive a quality education. Lauren tread this path with grace, David was pulled along by the ear. But in the end, true to the wisdom of Solomon, they have continued to live in accord with her sound teaching.

Like her siblings, Lisa was passionate about the outdoors. Family vacations were spent visiting national parks across California and Oregon and camping in the nearby redwood forests. The garage was always filled to overflowing with kayaks and punctured inner tubes, the latter casualties of rafting adventures down the Truckee River. She experienced the life that Thoreau described, living deep and sucking out all the marrow of life.

She is survived by her husband Don (69), and children, David (33) and Lauren (30). Respecting Lisa’s wishes and those of her husband, there will be no funeral service. We encourage you to celebrate her life and mourn her death in the manner that pleases you most and ask that you respect our desire to do the same.
