Lisa Marie (Szafranski) Omek, 62, of Bethel Park passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, April 23, 2023 after a long and courageously fought battle with cancer. The cancer may have won, but she went down swinging. 

Lisa was born to Joe and Johnine Szafranski of New Kensington, PA and graduated from Valley High School before attending nursing school at St. Francis School of Nursing and had a rewarding career as a extended care nurse for almost 30 years.

Lisa’s greatest joys were her three children Sarah (Ross) Abernethy, Jessica Ross, and Ryan Omek, as well as her two grandchildren, Noelle and Tessa. They were the light of her life and nothing made her happier than being a “Bobbie”.

Lisa will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, and family- brothers Joe (Michelle) Szafranski Jr and Kevin (Kim) Szafranski, as well as her mother Johnine Szafranski, son-in-law Steve, daughter-in-law Zhen, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her dogs.

Lisa was passionate about life, a voracious reader, and loved to travel. While she didn’t make it to all the places on her bucket list, her children plan to spread some of her ashes in the places she wanted to visit most.

She is preceded in death by her father, Joe Szafranski and fiancée, Tom McKay.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent directly via Lisa's memorial site.
