Lisa Viola Griggs, 59, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2024 at Gates Health and Rehab in Gatesville after a long battle with cancer.

Lisa was born on May 23, 1964 in Pensacola, FL to the late Henry M. and Dorothy Urban Griggs. She was predeceased by her brothers, Dennis Griggs, Kenny Griggs, and Gary Griggs, and her sister Barbara Griggs.

Lisa was a very independent woman who loved her family and pets. She found joy in animals, video games, mostly Zelda, and music from her younger days. Lisa was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt that will be missed by all that knew her.

Lisa is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth Carol Ward (Ryan) of Gates, NC, and Haylee Leake of Chesapeake, VA, her twin sister Teresa Lumanog-Griggs (Claude) of Chesapeake, VA, her sister Cheryl Outland of Ohio and brother Brian Griggs, Sr. of West Virginia. She is also survived by her two grandchildren Andrew and Autumn Ward and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loved family members and friends.

As Lisa requested, no service was to be held. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in her honor. The family would like to thank the staff of Gates Health and Rehab, as well as Albemarle Home Health and Hospice for their care and support during Lisa’s final days.
