I miss my little Sis. I miss the crushing hugs every time we would see each other. I'll always think of her and the good times we had together.
We only recently learned the news of Lisa's passing - we are so very sorry to hear it. We lived across the street on Beresford back in the early 2000s; Lisa and Zlatko were a few years ahead of us with their youngest son being the same age as our eldest. I have vivid memories of Lisa always being outside  - gardening, mowing the lawn, or coming back from a run. She was always available for a friendly chat and I enjoyed our conversations. I was also in awe of her talent as a writer, and had the opportunity to read one of her manuscripts.  What a terrible loss for everyone who loved her.

I first met Lisa as an outspoken little 5 year old. I was dating her sister Debbie at the time and was a smoker. She saw me in my car doing this and walked right up to me and told me I shouldn't be doing that. I was taken aback but rebutted her and she just walked away. I was transferred to Edmonton on a job assignment and she wrote me, I believe, her first letter. It was so cute I kept it to this day. Fast forward I married Debbie and Lisa became my little sister. Over time we would shares long conversations about worldly, family, writings and so on. She was quite athletic so we would have great tennis competions. Lisa grew into a beautiful young lady who had three wonderful boys and a devoted husband and I miss her. Miss the smile, miss the crunching hugs.

Dear Zlatko,

Lisa’s power and brightness will live with us for ever. Dialogues we shared only a couple of months ago are inspiration to live life to it's fullness.

We will treasure every piece of wisdom she generously shared with us.

With love,

Mladen and Nikolina Ivankovic

I've known Zlatko and Lisa for a long time. As a young 18 year old working for Zlatko's design studio, they both accepted me into their lovely home with their amazing sons. I was struck at how "cool" Lisa was at my young age. She carried herself as a strong, intelligent, talented, loving and hip woman. We would always talk about a variety of topics and always look forward to sitting down with her and just chatting about the world and how to navigate it as a young man. I think I may have told Zlatko this, but the strong impression that Lisa made on me, was I needed to find someone like her to marry; how cool would it be to have someone like Lisa in your life everyday. I can say that Lisa's spirit, work ethic, raising her three amazing talented sons, and the loving relationship within her home has imprinted on me on how I'd like to raise my daughters and conduct my life. Lisa shaped and changed my life for the better. I am appreciative that I got to meet Lisa and the time I spent in her presence. I miss you dearly. Love you Lisa.

I had the pleasure of meeting Lisa for the first time at my best friend Zach's birthday. We were in high school back then and I still remember being amazed by her energetic and passionate personality. Over the years I got to know her better, and her amazing affinity and talent for writing. Both her and Zlatko's resilience in these past years could not have been any stronger. I wish she was still with us… May she Rest In Peace.
Lisa popped in for a visit a few months ago and my memory of her is that she was so happy. She was positive and was looking forward to getting together for a family reunion. Sadly, the time was not to be. A devoted wife and mother of three sons, she loved every moment of being a mom. Lisa punched through every challenge and truly, I’ve never seen anyone fight through life the way Lisa did - never giving up throughout all her challenges. She fought a valiant fight. Taken away to soon from her family and friends and will be missed dearly. Zdenko and Mary Toman
Zlatko, Zachery, Spencer and Simon.  I am Lisa’s cousin Audrey from ‘out west’ and I just wanted to say how shocked and very sorry I was to hear of Lisa’s passing.  Although I was not in contact with Lisa anytime Aunt Stella would visit Ituna she always had wonderful and numerous stories of you, Lisa and the boys!!!  Condolences to all of you during this very difficult time.
Zlatko has been a dear friend since we toured Canada in the 80’s, with his band Cairo. I was fortunate to get to know Lisa. She always had a gentle sweetness and a twinkle in her eye. Lisa also had an immense writing talent. My wife thought her novel was excellent. Lisa often called me excitedly with advice on managing a health condition of mine. So sorry to hear of her sudden passing. I know Zlatko loved Lisa SO much. Our deepest condolences to Zlatko, the boys, friends and family. With love,  Anthony and Leslie

I am so sorry for your loss. Lisa was such a smart, kind, wonderful woman and friend.
I have so many memories -- Lisa and I were friends for over 35 years. We met in college and became good friends. Everyone has one friend with crazy ideas and I may have been Lisa's. I convinced her to drive through the night to Daytona, not book a place to stay and just wing it. Ignoring her instinct to always turn right we made it without getting lost. We chose not to stay with all of the dead June bugs in the first motel we found and instead stayed in a little motel next door. We shared vacations, nights out downtown, days spent in Bloor West and High Park ... We had great debates and so many conversations over coffee and/or wine. Lisa was smart, fun, articulate and an amazing writer. She taught me the word "moreover".  As our lives got busier with our own families, visits became fewer but we managed to stay in touch even if it was just a chat over the phone. I will miss my beautiful friend.  She definitely lives on in her intelligent, articulate, thoughtful, funny and amazing three sons!
