Lisa's Love for Music
There are so many things that Lisa and I had in common. We grew up together like sisters since we were only six years apart. Because we were so close in age, we loved allot of the same music growing up.
Some of the best memories I have of us as kids and teens have to do with weekends when we were together and listen to music and just dance...i mean dance hard. Our lives were always filled with music. My mama used to throw backyard parties and barbecues and of course we had to have a Soul Train line and everybody was on the patio giving it a go. Lisa and I would be right there in the thick of it dancing down that line.
Then there were the times during the summer when she would stay with Mama and me. We always tried to stay up as late as we could. That was back when the t.v. actually signed off in the wee hours of the morning. But most of the time, we would have pulled out the albums and 45's and dropped the arm on Mama's stereo in the living room. I have to admit I had some quirky tastes in music and I dragged poor Lisa right along with me in my musical weirdness. I had her listening to cuts like “Papa was a Roling Stone” (The Temptations) and “Angie Baby” (Helen Reddy). When we were older she used to remind me of how some of that stuff I had her listening to was straight up creepy. Yeah, it was; but I think it made her a well-rounded music lover. She branched out to other music genres as an adult...and to my way of thinking some of those tastes she had were weird. So we broke even.
She shared her love of music with her kids as well. Just like when we were coming up, almost every family gethering we had at her house, she would play the jams...either from her phone play list or her streaming tv play list. No matter how times change, Lisa kept up with the music
I'm gonna miss that connection with her. I'm gonna miss riding in the car singing off key to whatever she had on her play list. I'm gonna miss talking to her about old music and new artists and the shenanigans they get up to. I already mis her so much.
I want to share some of the music she loved and that we danced to. Lisa, whenever I hear these tunes; I'll always think of you and the good times we had. I love you
