Linda's obituary
We regretfully announce the passing of Linda Mae Wolf, 70, of Idaho Falls on February 2 at a medical rehabilitation facility in Utah. She was dealing with severe illness for many months and had developed significantly damaged lungs. The day before her much anticipated return to Idaho Falls for home care, Linda took a turn for the worse.
Linda was born on June 2, 1953 to Gordon and Elaine Jones of Milwaukee, WI. After graduating in 1971 from Hamilton High School (with honors), she went on to study Education of the Hearing Impaired at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point (graduated with honors in 1975). While at the UW, Linda met her future husband, Paul Wolf, in the spring of 1972, while participating in a student church choir. Linda continued her education, completing a Master’s degree in Audiology at Central Michigan University, graduating in 1976.
Shortly after graduation, she married Paul on September 11, 1976 in Milwaukee. After the wedding, she and Paul made their home in Monterey, CA, where Paul had been serving his military obligation as an army officer. While driving west from Milwaukee to California, Linda and Paul stopped in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. They even stopped for dinner at Smitty’s in Idaho Falls, not knowing then that they would eventually move there.
After Paul’s discharge from active duty, they stayed in Monterey for a while enjoying the California coast. Paul later found a job at the Idaho National Laboratory, and they moved to Idaho Falls in 1980. While Paul worked at the site, Linda held several jobs such as working as an Ophthalmic Assistant at the Idaho Falls Eye Center and as an Audiologist for Easter Seals until the arrival of their first son, Jordan, in 1986 and their second son, Zachary, in 1989. Linda felt very blessed to have her two sons.
When the boys were in grade school, Linda returned to work as the librarian for Theresa Bunker Grade School for 16 years until her retirement. It was a job she not only enjoyed, but it also allowed her to be home with the boys in the morning and afternoon. Linda was a natural librarian and helped to completely revamp and upgrade the library. Linda then worked part-time at the Yarn Connection until her illness. She was an avid reader and participated in the Idaho Falls Public Library’s Extreme Book Nerd Challenge each year. Linda was also an accomplished knitter, winning many awards from the Eastern Idaho State Fair.
Linda is preceded in death by parents and grandparents, and survived by husband Paul, son Jordan (Kaitlin) of Shoreline, WA, son Zachary of Idaho Falls, and brother Lee (Rosemary) Jones of Madison, WI.
Linda appreciated the many supportive and close friends throughout the years. She particularly enjoyed her knitting community, book club, former coworkers at Theresa Bunker Grade School, and traveling companions.
In lieu of flowers, Linda would appreciate the donation of warm hats and mittens for the children of District 91 through the Yarn Connection.
