Linda W. Sowers Mitchell

Linda was born in Clayton, New Mexico on May 28, 1948 to Virgil and Jimmie Nell Sowers. She graduated from Clayton High School in 1966, then attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces where she met and married Bill Mitchell. Linda completed her RN at Amarillo College. She and Bill made their home in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. Linda had a 43 year-long nursing career, including serving as the school nurse at Santa Rosa Consolidated Schools and working in surgery and emergency care at Guadalupe County Hospital. She spent most of her career as a corrections nurse in both Santa Rosa and later in Los Lunas, New Mexico.

Linda retired in 2019, and a few years later she moved to Boerne, Texas to be near her daughter Kristy. She passed away on February 16, 2025 and is survived by daughters Kristy Oates (Chad) and Breanne Green (Trent) of Belen, New Mexico, and her sisters Lu Ellen Boren of Durango, Colorado and Amy Clymer of Colorado Springs,  Colorado. Her beloved grandchildren include Brooke Powell; Mallory, Chloe, and Lane Oates; and Elliott and Kaceton Green. Linda was a wonderful cook and baker, enjoyed gardening and loved animals (especially her Yorkipoo Lola), and most of all spending time with her family and friends. In lieu of flowers her family asks that you make a donation in her name to your local animal shelter or pet rescue.
