Linda's obituary
Linda May Loy, 83, went home to be with the Lord on November 21, 2025, in Columbia City, Indiana. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Linda lived a life marked by service, compassion, and unwavering faith.
Born on May 23, 1942, in Columbia City, Indiana, Linda remained deeply rooted in the community that shaped her. Her life’s work was a testament to her nurturing spirit: for 45 years, she served as a labor and delivery nurse, helping countless families welcome new life into the world. Her gentle hands and calming presence brought comfort during some of life’s most profound moments. Those who passed through her care often remembered her not only for her skill but for the quiet strength and spiritual grace she offered in every interaction.
Linda brought that same tenderness into her home. She was the quiet strength and spiritual center of her family — a steady presence whose love radiated through generations. Her faith was not just professed but lived daily through acts of kindness and devotion to those around her.
She is survived by her devoted husband of many years, Grant Sr. Loy, 88; their children — Grant Jr. Loy, James F. Loy, and Denise M. Puckett; six cherished granddaughters; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Linda also spent many years volunteering beside her husband as a Marine wife, serving their community with humility and grace.
Linda found joy in gardening — tending to flowers and plants with the same care she gave to people. In the quiet rhythm of planting and nurturing growth from soil to bloom, she found God’s peace reflected back at her. It was a fitting metaphor for how she lived: cultivating love wherever she went.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen Groves and Ronald Groves.
In keeping with her wishes, Linda will be cremated with the hope of being reunited with her beloved husband when the time comes.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
