Linda's obituary

Linda Alvis Kimbro, born on February 19, 1951, in Danville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2024, in Erie, Colorado. Linda was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, whose love and warmth touched all who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved daughter Lindsay Brooker, son-in-law Michael Brooker, and her cherished granddaughters Charlotte (5) and Zoe (2) of Erie, Colorado. Linda also leaves behind her brother Michael Alvis and his wife Gail Alvis of Ringgold, Virginia; her nephew John Alvis and his wife Kristin, along with their children Alivia (5) and Jensen (3) of Ruffin, North Carolina; and her nephew Taylor Alvis and his wife Linette of Danville, Virginia. She is predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Goldie Alvis of Danville, Virginia.

Linda’s greatest passion was her family, especially her two grandbabies, Lotte and Zoe, who brought immense joy to her life. She grew up in Danville and spent 20 years living in North Carolina before returning to raise her daughter in her hometown, surrounded by the community and church she held dear. In 2018, Linda moved to Los Angeles, California, to live with Lindsay and Michael, where she joyfully experienced the births of both her granddaughters, navigated the challenges of a global pandemic, and faced a heart transplant with courage and grace.

A lover of nature and adventure, Linda treasured the many family trips she took, exploring the beaches of Hawaii, the Grand Canyon’s vast beauty, and the majestic sequoias of California’s national parks.
