Linda's obituary

Linda Haynes of Escondido, California passed away unexpectedly on March 23rd, 2023 in Poway, California. Linda is the daughter of the late Frank and Anne Karg. She is survived by her brother Frank and his wife Lisa; her nieces Christina, Jennifer and her husband Steve, and Amanda; her great nephew and niece Colin and Riley; and her cousins Patricia and her husband Stephen, and Karen.

Linda grew up in Bloomfield New Jersey and moved to San Diego in 1965. A graduate of Oceanside High School's Class of 1969, she attended San Diego State University and holds a bachelor's in business from National University. She had a genius IQ and was very intelligent. Linda made a career at Hughes Aerospace as a Liquid Crystal Scientist and spent some time working as a quality engineer at the Gemological Institute of America.

To say she loved animals would be an understatement. Linda surrounded herself with dogs her entire adult life and even bred Shetland Sheepdogs. One of her dogs Black Bear would go on to win the championship show title for Sheepdogs for the Mexican Dog Lovers Association in 1975. She also owned cats, horses, goats, and pigs during her lifetime.

Some fun facts about Linda. In 1964 at the age of 14, she was one of 18,000 who attended the Atlantic City Convention Hall in New Jersey to watch The Beatles perform; her favorite Beatle was Paul McCartney. She obtained her private pilot license and has logged many hours flying in the skies over Southern California. She grew and maintained a 3-acre avocado orchard in Escondido. And she loved to travel the world and made visits to Italy, England, Alaska, Switzerland, and Germany.

Linda will be remembered for her kind heart, generosity, and sharp wit. A small private memorial service will take place at San Marcos Cemetery in San Marcos, California on Wednesday April 5th at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to San Diego Humane Society or the ASPCA. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace surrounded by the love of those who are no longer with us.
