Linda's obituary
Linda Lou Gearhart, age 77, went to be with her Savior October 16, 2022. She was born on May 14, 1945 to Dwight and Dorothy Shady in Bluffton, IN. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gerald Gearhart, four children: Andrea Miller, Anna Lisa Bowden, Angelina Byron, and Andrew Gearhart, and fourteen grandchildren ages 4-24.
Linda was a 1963 graduate of Lancaster High School in Bluffton, IN. She continued on to earn her bachelor's degree in education from Indiana Central, a gifting and calling that she lived out faithfully and joyfully in North America, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the South Pacific.
Known as “Mama G” to loved ones, her life was a kaleidoscope of service, relationships, ministry, giving, encouragement, time, laughter, pickleball, mahjong, walks with loved ones, colors, flowers, changing leaves, dedication to her grandchildren, fellowship with her faith community, and commitment to her wellness company, Melaleuca. She was dedicated in her pursuit of Jesus and His will for her life, and poured herself into reading the Word, praying without ceasing, and investing in many ministries both local and abroad. Linda’s bright blue eyes and joyful smile blessed countless lives.
Linda’s life was characterized by these scriptures:
Psalm 119:15 - “I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways.”
Isaiah 58:6-9 - “This is the kind of fasting I want: Free those who are wrongly imprisoned; lighten the burden of those who work for you. Let the oppressed go free, and remove the chains that bind people. Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help. Then your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind. Then when you call, the Lord will answer. ‘Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply.”
Matthew 25:23 - “The master said, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’”
We will celebrate her life on Friday October 21, 2022 at 4:30pm at the Eastside Church of Christ, 5905 Flintridge Dr, Colorado Springs, CO 80918. We encourage attendees to wear Linda’s favorite colors: teal/blue or purple, as we remember her joyful spirit.
If you are led to make a donation in her memory, below are two of Linda’s beloved ministries: Let’s Start Talking: https://everloved.com/life-of… or Virunga Valley Academy via https://pushpay.com/g/homewoo… (select “VVA in memory of Linda Gearhart” from the drop-down menu).
